Facility Operations

Operational Readiness: Preparing Teams for a Successful Opening

A facility is ready to open when its people, processes, systems and support structures are fully prepared, not simply when construction is complete. Effective operational readiness ensures the facility can begin delivering its intended services safely, efficiently and reliably from the outset.

1

Train Before Handover, Not After

Train operational, clinical and technical teams during commissioning so they are familiar with the facility, equipment and systems before opening. Early, hands-on training builds competence and confidence, supports safe operations and helps teams perform effectively from the outset.

2

Write Practical Operating Procedures

Develop clear, practical procedures for operating and maintaining the facility, its equipment and systems. Well-defined procedures give teams consistent guidance for day-to-day operations, maintenance, safety and responding to problems when they arise.

3

Plan Support Before You Need It

Put spare parts, technical support, service agreements and clear escalation procedures in place before the facility opens. Being prepared from the outset reduces downtime, enables faster problem resolution and helps maintain reliable operations from the outset.
